Never going back to that contract stuff again now that I know what it's like to pay in advance and have no surprises at the end of the month like I so often used to. Love the felxibility to switch between plans. Hate customer service, had to deal with them once and it was awful, but other than that Net10 is where it is.

After being on contract for some time, I made the leap and changed to Net10 Prepaid. It is amazing how much less I am paying Every month now for almost exactly the same thing. The deal is great $30 for a phone and 300 minutes to start. The calling rate is so reasonable at only 10 cents per minute that I can use the phone when ever I need it. Ive heard that some of the phones work better in certain areas than others. This is because net10 uses the other companies towers to get a very wide coverage area. When you buy the phone check the barcode for the dominent carrier in that ares. The reviews have recently listed net10 as the number one prepaid provider for customer satisfaction. I personally found customer service polite and helpful. You cant realy blame them for not being able to help with expired minutes. When you join Net10 you are aware of the window period so letting it expire would be your own doing. In terms of a prepaid provider I derfinatly reat them as my top. There are no bill, no hidden costs, unused minutes carry over, calls are 10 cents a minute and texts are 5 cents.

Minutes and service time will cost you. The 5 cents a minute deal is really cheap though.

James,
I understand your frustration with both Radio Shack and Tracfone.

You have to take into consideration that you are paying less than $10 a month for phone service. This is not Verizon where you pay $35 to activate your phone sign a two year contract for $1200 ($50 x 24 months). The service is not perfect and the people at Walmart, Radio Shack, and the other places thet sell them usually have no idea how they work.

If you want premium customer support you will have to pay more.

I have been a go between for my friends and Tracfone since prepaid cell phones became my hobby a few years ago. If you go into dealing with customer service angry you will get no where.

I have literally saved myself thousands of dollars by using Tracfone in the last few years. I will put up with weak customer service for that.

I have been using either a Tracfone or Net10 phone for over 4 years--

My personal and recent experience with both trakfone and radio shack is that they both are worthless POS's.

First radio shack- These people know nothing and spew more dis-information then not. My fault-gut was saying idiots-run away, but didnt listen!

Second trakfone is great if you enjoy talking to india who cant speak english, lie repeatedly. Just remember when they say we will be contacting you within 48 hours.....dont hold your breath!

This is the sorriest excuse for a company I have ever run across. Period.
